Unlock The Motorola W375

Unlocking the software on your Motorola W375 lets you use it with a SIM card on any network.

The Motorola W375 is a flip phone that comes with a VGA camera and an FM radio. The phone was released in 2008 and if you purchased one from a mobile carrier then it came locked to that network. This prevents you from installing a SIM (subscriber identity module) card from a different service provider and is a means of customer retention.

Instructions

1. Turn off your Motorola W375 and remove the battery. Beneath it is a sticker with the letters IMEI on it. Write down the 15-digit code next to it. This is your serial number and is how you are identified by your network service provider. If the sticker is not there then turn your phone on and dial *#06#. This will make the code appear.

2. Choose an online store that sells unlocking codes for Motorola (see Resource links). As of 2010 you can purchase a single code for about $20 to $35. You can also call your cell phone provider and ask for the code, which they may give you for free.

3. Open up your computer's web browser and go to the website that you wish to purchase the codes from. Provide your IMEI number, make and manufacturer of your mobile phone, your email address and payment information. Once you have submitted these details, you will receive your unlock code via email in one or two days.

4. Remove the battery from your phone and take the SIM card out. This is a rectangular plastic chip. Insert a new SIM card from a different network. These are available for purchase at a convenience or mobile phone store for about $20 as of 2010. Replace the battery and turn your Motorola 375 back on.

5. Type in the unlock code when you get a message that says "Enter Subsidy Code." Click the "OK" button and your phone will restart. Once it comes back on it will be unlocked. You can now use it with a SIM card from any network.
