The Nokia 6070 can normally be unlocked for free.
The Nokia 6070 is a basic Nokia handset that features a camera, FM radio, MP3 ringtones and GPRS connectivity. From when they're shipped from the factory, mobile phones come with a "Network Lock" tattooed onto their circuitry. This prevents you from using your 6070 with any other network provider than the one you purchased it through. These blocks can be removed by finding your unique unlock code.
Instructions
1. Find a mobile phone unlocking website that provides free unlock codes, such as Unlock 4 All (see Resources).
2. Enter the make and model details of your phone on the website. Few sites support the 6070.
3. Find out your phone's IMEI number, also called its serial number. Type *#06# into your phone, and the 15-digit number will display on the screen. The number also is printed on the label underneath your battery.
4. Enter the IMEI number into the relevant field on the website. All websites ask for this, as your unlock code has to be generated from the IMEI, because it is the unique code that identifies your phone.
5. Click to proceed on the website. You will be taken to a page with a few codes and instructions. These codes contain "+," "P" and "W," which can be brought up on your phone by pressing the "*" key multiple times (press twice for "+", three for "P" and four for "W").
6. Remove your SIM card. Remove your phone's back cover and take the battery out. It comes up easily if you slip your fingernail into the gap at the bottom and lift from there. Remove the SIM card from the slot by pressing the "SIM Card Release" button directly above the card and sliding the SIM toward the top of the phone.
7. Put the battery back in place, but leave the back cover off so you can put a SIM card from a new carrier in the phone after you've unlocked it.
8. Switch your phone on and enter one of the codes provided. An example code is #pw+830481552731272+7#. A confirmation message should display. If you got a failure message, you may have to contact your network to unlock your phone.
