Use Maps For Wallpaper

Using maps as wallpaper can help you commemorate a trip.

Using maps as wallpaper is a simple way to customize your interior space. Travelers can use maps from places they have visited or want to visit, or you can simply use maps you find attractive. Using individual maps instead of pre-manufactured map wallpaper allows you to arrange them in any order around the room. Once you hang the maps, applying a sealer will keep them from yellowing over time. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Hang the maps on the wall with pushpins before gluing them to the wall so you can make sure they all fit properly. Move the maps around using the pushpins until you get them in the order in which you want to hang them.

2. Pour the clear adhesive into a large bowl and slowly add water, stirring it into the glue with a paint stirrer as you pour. Continue adding water until the glue is the same consistency as maple syrup.

3. Remove the pushpins securing the first map. Paint the back of the map with the glue using a paintbrush, and then press it firmly into the wall.

4. Dampen a sponge in clean water and run it over the surface of the map. Smooth the surface of the map with a china-bristled paintbrush to remove any wrinkles or bubbles.

5. Repeat the application and smoothing process with the next adjacent map, going across the top of the wall and working towards the floor. Let the maps dry to the wall for three weeks.

6. Use a paintbrush to apply a water-based sealer to the maps once they are dry. Let the sealer dry according to the package directions.
