Change A Verizon Sim Card

Change a Verizon SIM Card

Almost all Verizon phones are CDMA (Code-Division Multiple Access) phones, meaning they don't use a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card. The only types of cell phones that use SIM cards are GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) and iDEN (Integrated Digital Enhanced Network) phones. The two carriers that use GSM service and require a SIM card are AT&T and T-Mobile. Some Verizon phones, like the BlackBerry, do have SIM cards, because they can be used on both a CDMA and GSM network.

Instructions

1. Shut off your phone and take off the back cover.

2. Remove the battery from your phone. The SIM card will be placed underneath the battery.

3. Slide the SIM card out of its place. You may have to unhook a mechanism that is holding the SIM card in place before you can remove it.

4. Insert your new SIM card into the place where you took out the old SIM card.

5. Replace the battery and back cover and turn on your phone.
