The Nokia E71 is a smartphone that comes with a full QWERTY keypad. Use iSync, a Macintosh-based application by Apple, to synchronize data between your phone and Mac computer. Back up precious phone items, such as phone contacts, music, videos, text messages and calendars on your Mac computer. Before starting the syncing process, you must connect the phone to the computer via USB cable or Bluetooth.
Instructions
1. Connect the E71 phone to your Mac computer via an USB cable. Insert the narrower end of the USB cable into the USB port on the phone and the other end into a USB port on the Mac. The phone will present a number of connecting options; select "PC Suite Mode."
2. Turn on the Bluetooth device on the Nokia E71. Click the "Menu" button and navigate to the "Settings" submenu. Select "Bluetooth." Select the option "Turn Bluetooth On." Also, make your phone device visible by selecting the option "Shown to All."
3. Turn on the Bluetooth device on your Mac computer. Open "System Preferences." Click the Bluetooth icon. Click "Turn Bluetooth On."
4. Pair the two Bluetooth devices. On your Mac computer, open "System Preferences" and click the Bluetooth icon. Open "Devices." Click "Set Up New Device." Click "Continue" when the "Bluetooth Setup Assistant" window appears, and specify the device type as "mobile phone." Your computer will now search for available Bluetooth devices. Your phone's Bluetooth device will appear in the search results. Select this device and click the "Continue" button to proceed. Your computer will now generate a random passkey. Type the passkey on your E71, when prompted. The phone will then display your computer in the list of paired devices.
5. Add your Nokia E71 phone device to iSync. Launch iSync on your Mac computer from the "Applications" folder. When iSync launches, select "Add Device" under "Devices" menu. Select your Nokia E71 from the devices shown.
6. Synchronize the data. Select the items you want to sync and click "Sync Devices" to start the syncing process. You will be prompted when the devices are successfully synchronized.
