Set the Download Folder for IE
Internet Explorer is one of the most powerful web browsers available. This comes from Microsoft learning from its mistakes in earlier versions and changing their browser in each subsequent version. One of the features they have not added, however, is the ability to change the location on your computer where files are downloaded. If you are confident with a little bit of computer programming, changing the download directory is quite simple.
Instructions
1. Click on the "Start" button at the bottom left corner of the screen. Click on the "Run" command.
2. In the box provided, type "regedit" to open your registry editor. You may need to give the computer permission to open the editor by clicking "Continue."
3. Double-click "HKEY_CURRENT_USER," and then double-click "Software" to open a list of software makers on the left-hand side of the screen.
4. Double-click "Microsoft" for a list of Microsoft programs, and then double-click on "Internet Explorer" for a list of areas you can edit.
5. In the right frame of the registry editor, double-click on "Download Directory" to open the "Edit String" box. In the text box under "Value Data," type the new folder you want your downloads to go to. When you have finished, click "OK." Close the registry editor.
