If the keypad on your Nokia 5300 isn't functioning properly, chances are it has slipped out of its place in its housing. Luckily the keypad is located on the front face of the phone so there isn't that much disassembly of the unit involved. You will have to get inside your 5300 in order to fix the keypad. Don't let this intimidate you because it won't take up much of your time.
Instructions
1. Power off your Nokia 5300 and turn the unit over. Slide the back battery cover off of the unit and remove the battery.
2. Turn the unit right side up and run the tip of your finger along the seam where the front housing meets the body of the unit. Work your way around the sides until the front housing pops off.
3. Turn the housing over and locate the plastic keypad inside. Remove the keypad from the bottom half of the housing.
4. Fit the keypad back in the housing, making sure it is secure in its compartment. Fit the housing back over the phone and press firmly down until it snaps in place.
