Wi-Fi routers use IP addresses to keep track of all the devices connected to it.
Like most Android devices, HTC's Droid Incredible has a robust set of connectivity options, from 3G compatibility to GPS to Wi-Fi. When you connect your Droid Incredible to a Wi-Fi network, the router broadcasting that network assigns you an IP address, which is like a street address for your phone: the router uses it to find out where data is coming from and to make sure it sends data to the right place. Locate this IP address in the phone's network status section with just a few taps.
Instructions
1. Go to the "Home" screen by pressing the "Home" button, which is on the far left below the display.
2. Press the "menu" button and tap "Settings," then "Wireless & networks." If there is no check mark in the box beside the word "Wi-Fi," go ahead and tap it to see a list of all available Wi-Fi networks.
3. Connect to the Wi-Fi network, if necessary. Just tap the network when it displays on your screen to connect. If the network is secured, you may need to type in the network's password.
4. Tap the network you're connected to when you see the word "Connected" beneath the network name. This brings up the status of your network connection, and your IP address is listed on this screen.
