Use A Cell Phone As A Modem For A Laptop

After a few simple steps, you can "tether" your cell phone to your laptop and connect to the Internet at broadband speeds--read on to find out more.

The Steps

1. Enable the modem function on your cell phone (Press Menu > Settings > Connections > USB > Data Modem)--consult your phone's user's manual for specifics on enabling the modem function.

4. On your computer, open your operating system's "Control Panel" and click on the "Network" icon. Choose "Set up a Connection or Network" from the menu that appears.

5. Select "Set up a Dial-up Connection" from the next set of options. On the next page, type "#777" into the field under the "Dial-up Phone Number" heading. Click "Connect" at the bottom of the menu to establish your connection.
