Instead of throwing out your Nokia phone and battery, unlock it.
The Nokia BI-5Ca is a battery that comes with Nokia cell phones. No matter what type of Nokia cell phone you purchase, it will come with a lock on it. This lock restricts you from using other wireless providers. If you want to use your phone outside of your network or if you want to switch providers, you will need to obtain an unlock code. Depending on your contract, your wireless provider will help you generate an unlock code for your phone.
Instructions
1. Enter *#06# into your phone's keypad. Press the "SEND" button. Write down the 15-digit IMEI number you receive.
2. Contact your wireless provider. Verify your account information, such as your account number, mobile number and last four digits of your Social Security number.
3. Ask for an unlock code. Provide your phone's IMEI number and model number. The representative will generate an unlock code using the IMEI number.
4. Write down the unlock code and disconnect the call.
5. Turn off your Nokia phone. Remove the protective cover in the back. Take out the battery and old SIM card.
6. Replace the SIM card with one from another wireless provide. Replace the battery and protective cover.
7. Enter the following, "#pw+UNLOCKCODE+1#." UNLOCKCODE will be the number you received from your wireless provider. The phone will display, "SIM RESTRICTIONS OFF."
