Use a SIM card reader to retrieve information from an old SIM.
A Subscriber Identity Module card, commonly referred to as a SIM card, is a small memory card that stores information. These tiny memory cards enable you to store contact information and personal settings. TracFone SIM cards are located behind the battery. Unlike other carriers, TracFone ties a SIM and a TracFone together. This means that a SIM card from another phone cannot be inserted into a TracFone. Always insert the original SIM card included in the phone package.
Instructions
1. Remove the SIM card from the white plastic card. Write the SIM serial number down. You will later need to know the SIM serial number to activate the phone.
2. Remove the back cover of the TracFone.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Insert the SIM card with the gold area down and beveled corner toward the beveled edge.
5. Power on the TracFone.
6. Activate the TracFone. To activate, go to Tracfone's official website, select "Activate Phone" and follow the instructions.
