Unlock your Samsung E1070 to use it on other networks.
The Samsung E1070, also called the Samsung Guru 1070, is a fairly basic cell phone released in 2009. Like many other cell phones on the GSM network, the Samsung E1070 comes with a SIM card locked to its service provider. This means that you can only use the network from whom you purchased the phone. In order to use this phone on another service provider, you'll first have to unlock it. Not only will unlocking allow you to save money when traveling abroad (since you can use foreign SIM cards), but it also increases the resale value of your phone.
Instructions
1. Get your Samsung E1070's IMEI number by typing "*#06#" into the home screen. Write down the 16-digit number that appears, as you will need this for later use.
2. Contact your service provider's technical support department and request an unlock code. Be prepared to give your name, e-mail address, mobile number and IMEI number. If the representative requests a reason before giving you a code, tell her that you're either traveling abroad, or that you plan on selling your phone.
3. Power down your phone and remove its battery door. Take out the battery and set it aside.
4. Slide the SIM card out from underneath its metal holder and insert your new foreign or prepaid SIM card in its place. Replace your battery and turn the phone back on.
5. Enter the unlock code you received in a previous step when your phone requests a password. If the phone screen displays the error "Incorrect SIM card," enter "#0111*unlock code#," where "unlock code" represents the unlock code that you received from your cell phone provider.
