A small percentage of iPods are affected by a virus.
According to Apple, if you bought your iPod between September 12, 2006 and October 18, 2006, there is a one percent chance that it contains a virus. The virus, a worm called RavMonE.exe, only affects Windows users. If you are not a Windows user, or you bought your iPod earlier or later than the dates listed above, then you don't need to worry about it. But if you are part of the small percentage of affected consumers, there are ways to get rid of the virus.
Instructions
1. Determine if your iPod was bought between September 12, 2006 and October 18, 2006. If you are unsure, staff at your local Apple store will be able to help you.
2. If you do not already have anti-virus software installed on your computer, install it now. Programs like McAfee, Symantec Norton Anti-Virus, or Microsoft Live One Care are good choices.
3. Attach your iPod to the computer and run the anti-virus software. If the iPod is infected, the anti-virus software can tell and tell you to either quarantine or remove the virus.
4. Attach any other external devices (external hard drives or flash drives) and run the anti-virus software.
5. Once you are certain everything is cleared of the virus, use iTunes to restore your iPod's software settings.
