The Blackberry 8800 smartphone features wireless email syncing, on board GPS for getting directions, and an integrated media player for music and videos. Unlocking your Blackberry phone allows you to use the phone with any mobile wireless carrier simply by inserting a SIM card from the new carrier. To unlock the phone properly you will need to obtain a subsidy unlock code from T-Mobile, which is a unique number that lets your phone establish a connection with carriers other than T-Mobile.
Instructions
1. Find and record your phone's International Mobile Electronics Identification (IMEI) number. Dial *#06# from your phone and write down the string of digits that pops up on your phone's screen.
2. Call T-Mobile customer care and request a subsidy unlock code. Write down the 16 digit number they read to you.
3. From the main menu go to "Settings" and choose "SIM Card." Hold down the caps lock and type the letters "MPED," then press "Return." They will not appear on the screen as you type, but the device personalization menu will open up.
4. Hold down the caps lock key and type the letters "MEP." Release the caps lock key, press and hold the alt key and type the number "2." Press the return key. A sub-menu will pop up with a message that says "Enter Network MEP Code." Enter the subsidy unlock code T-Mobile provided for you and press the return key. Your phone will now be unlocked and free to accept SIM cards from any carrier.
