Transfer files between phones using Bluetooth.
Many Bluetooth-enabled devices support a file transfer profile, allowing you to send and receive files wirelessly. You can transfer items like ring tones, photos, contacts or videos when the devices are within range. Bluetooth devices can communicate over a maximum range of about 33 feet. Transferring files is a two-part process. You'll first need to pair the devices you are transferring items between. Once a secure connection is established, you can send files with the devices.
Instructions
Pairing the Devices
1. Power on both devices. Set one device as discoverable -- this option is usually found in Bluetooth settings and allows other devices to locate it.
2. Open the Bluetooth options menu on the other device. Choose "Search" or "Add New Device." The device will attempt to locate in-range devices.
3. Choose the name of the device set to discoverable from the list of found devices. You will be prompted for a passkey. Enter a code of your choice and press "OK."
4. Choose "Accept" when asked to accept the pairing on the discoverable device. Enter in the same passcode entered on the searching device and press "OK" to complete pairing.
Transferring the File
5. Open the file to be transferred.
6. Select "Options" and choose "Send."
7. Choose "Using Bluetooth." The list of trusted devices will open -- select the name of the device you are transferring to. Press "OK."
8. Choose "Accept" when prompted to accept the file on the second phone. The file will transfer -- choose "Save" when the transfer completes.
