Unlocking your Nokia N95 allows you to use SIM cards from other service providers.
No matter what network your Nokia N95 phone currently runs on, you can unlock it---or "flash" it---to run on any GSM network. You will only be able to use your unlocked Nokia N95 phone on networks that use SIM cards---such as T-Mobile and AT&T---and not on CDMA networks such as Sprint and Verizon, which do not provide SIM cards.
Instructions
Unlocking the Handset
1. Remove the back cover and the battery from your cell phone. Locate a silver sticker with a bar code on it. Take note of the 15-digit IMEI number printed on it. At this time, also remove the SIM card and write down the numbers printed on the back of it. The SIM card is the small, white data chip in the silver cradle right next to the sticker. You will need these numbers to obtain your Nokia unlock code.
2. Request a Nokia N95 unlock code from your service provider. If they cannot provide you with an unlock code, you can buy one online.
3. Replace the SIM card, battery and cover. Fully charge your handset.
4. Turn on your handset and type "#PW+".
5. Enter the unlock code given from your phone company or website. Make sure you dial the number exactly as it was given to you. If you dial this number incorrectly three times, you will be permanently locked out of your handset.
6. Dial "+1#". At this point, the screen on your Nokia N95 should read "SIM Restriction Off."
Inserting SIM Card
7. Switch your handset off and remove the back cover and battery.
8. Remove the SIM card.
9. Insert the new SIM card into the SIM card slot. Now that the phone has been unlocked, this can be a SIM card from any U.S. service provider that uses SIM cards.
10. Replace the back cover and battery and switch the cell phone on. The screen should now read the name of the new service provider.
