Pairing your cell phone with a hands-free car kit is a quick process.
The use of Bluetooth hands-free car kits is rising, as states and cities continue to establish laws that prohibit holding a cell phone handset to the ear while driving. Bluetooth car kits allow a driver to make and receive calls without handling the cell phone. In order to use a hands-free car kit, it must first be paired with a cell phone. This one-time process is simple and enables the two devices to communicate with each other.
Instructions
1. Power on your hands-free device. Place the device in pairing mode by holding down the designated "Pairing" button. Refer to the device's manual, as the location of this button varies by device.
2. Navigate to the Bluetooth settings menu from your cell phone home screen. Select the tab "Add a Device" and wait as your phone searches for nearby Bluetooth devices. Select the name of the hands-free device from the list that appears.
3. Enter the same passkey (password) when prompted on the phone and the hands-free device to complete the pairing process. Generally, the default passkey is "0-0-0-0." Connect the two devices and begin making calls through the hands-free device.
