A hard reset returns a Nokia cell phone to its out-of-the-box state.
When all else fails, clearing a Nokia cell phone by performing a hard reset might bring a sluggish or unresponsive phone back to life. Additionally, if you are selling or giving away your cellphone, you may not want your contacts, personal information and text messages to remain in the phone's memory. In either of these cases, a hard reset will return your Nokia cell phone to factory condition.
Instructions
1. Back up any information that is stored on the phone. A hard reset will clear all of the data from the phone. Remove the memory card, if necessary, and write down any phone numbers or contacts that you want to save.
2. Enter "*#7380#" on the cell phone's numeric keypad.
3. Select "Yes" at the subsequent prompt to indicate that you approve of the operation. Enter the master code, if required by your model. If you haven't set the master code, use the default code "12345." Wait for the phone to conduct the reset. It may turn off during this process. When completely finished, the phone will return to its normal non-call screen.
4. Insert your memory card if the phone is to stay in your possession. If not, you can now transfer the phone to another user or dispose of it.
