Set Up An E71'S Gps

The Nokia E71 smart phone was designed with GPS capabilities that allow you to find directions from your current location to your destination. The GPS feature on the phone is ready to use out of the box. The only setup required is determining the type of positioning method you prefer to use. If you have trouble using one of the positioning methods, you can use one of the other methods so the phone determines your location and provides accurate directions.

Instructions

1. Touch the scroll key with your finger to highlight the "Menu" option on the Nokia E71, and then press down on the scroll key to open the menu. The scroll key is located under the LCD screen in the middle of the phone.

2. Select "Tools," "Settings," "General," "Positioning" and "Positioning Methods" to open the "Positioning Methods" setup screen. The positioning methods "GPS," "A-GPS" and "Cell ID" will appear on the screen.

3. Highlight the positioning method you want to use for the GPS feature on your Nokia E71 and press down on the scroll key. The "GPS" option uses satellites to determine your position. "A-GPS" is assisted GPS, which uses information from satellites and the cellular network to provide a more accurate position than only using the "GPS" option. With the "Cell ID" option, the network uses software installed in the E71 to determine your location over the network, and it is the least accurate of the three options.
