Disassemble An Lg Vx5500 Verizon Wireless Cell Phone

Disassembling your LG vx5500 phone will void any existing warranty.

If you plan on performing any major repairs or maintenance to your LG vx5500 cell phone, you must know disassemble the phone. Common repairs include replacing the LCD screen, main circuit board and external housing cover. While it is possible to completely dismantle your phone, there are some risks involved. For instance, the phone's main circuitry is made of fragile material that can easily break if handled carelessly. Depending on your specific cell phone service provider, dismantling the phone yourself may also void the phone's warranty.

Instructions

1. Power down your phone, close the flip screen and slide the antenna down into its slot. Place the phone face down in your palm. Slide off the rear battery cover and lift the battery pack out of its compartment.

2. Remove the six Phillips-head screws surrounding the empty battery compartment on the phone's back casing. Lift the back casing off of the phone to reveal the internal circuit board.

3. Use a pair of tweezers to disconnect all visible cables on the circuit board. Remove the Phillips-head screws fastening the circuit board in place. Lift the circuit board out of the phone's casing slightly, and unplug the cables from the opposite side of the circuit board. Lift the board unit out of the phone. The keypad and speaker are attached to the opposite side of the circuit board as well and will come out with the board.

4. Place the phone's housing face up, and pull open the flip screen all the way. Use a thin, flat-head screwdriver to pry the rubber screw covers from the front face of the screen. Remove the exposed, precision-sized Phillips-head screws from the front of the screen.

5. Carefully pry the front housing from the LCD screen. Grasp each side of the exposed LCD, and lift the screen out of its compartment.
