Tell If A Nokia Battery Bl4u Is New

The BI-4U is a model of battery compatible with a variety of Nokia cell phones. You might have purchased a replacement BI-4U for your cell phone or received it second hand. While there is no definitive way of finding out if your Nokia BI-4U is new; there are steps you can take to get an estimate of the condition of the battery. A new battery will perform better than an old one. Allow a few days to fully test your Nokia BI-4U.

Instructions

1. Examine the battery for visible signs of wear. This can be scratches or scuffs on the surface of the battery or marks on the metal contacts at the end of the battery. The contacts are used to transfer electricity from the battery to the phone; after long periods of use the contacts develop marks.

2. Put the battery in your phone and connect the charger. Let the battery fully charge, disconnect the charger and make a note of the time. Use the phone as normal until the battery runs out. The BI-4U batteries should provide several days of normal phone usage when new. Older batteries will not last as long.

3. Check the hologram sticker on the Nokia BI-4U. By viewing the sticker from the top, bottom, left and right you should be able to see four slightly different images. Only genuine Nokia batteries contain the holographic sticker. If the battery includes the hologram and is sealed in its original packaging, the battery is probably new.

4. Take the battery to a Nokia Care Point to have the battery inspected. Nokia staff will be able to test the battery to verify its age, quality and safety. See Resources to find your nearest Nokia Care Point.
