Unlocking the LG U400 is easy if you have the right codes.
The LG U400 is a 3G mobile phone that comes with touchscreen, a bright color display, voice command and an MP3 player. It also has a high-resolution 2.1 megapixel camera. If you recently purchased this phone it is likely locked. What this means is that you won't be able to use the phone with a different network until you unlock it. Fortunately, this is easy and inexpensive to do.
Instructions
1. Remove the phone's battery lid and pop out the battery. You should see a manufacturer's sticker just below it. Take note of the number just below the bar code. That is your IMEI (international mobile equipment identity) number. If you can't get the IMEI from the sticker on your phone then dial *#06# on your keypad. A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. Remember to take note of this as this is an important part of the unlocking process.
2. You now need to find a site that sells unlock codes for your phone model (see Resources). These usually cost you $14.99 to $29.99 as of 2010.
3. After you have found a website, enter the IMEI number. Select LG as the manufacturer, and U400 as the model. Choose the country where the phone is registered and put find your mobile service provider. After entering all the details, proceed to checkout and confirm your payment information before clicking submit.
4. Check your email for the unlock codes. Write them down when you receive them.
5. Turn off your phone and replace the SIM card with your new SIM card from another network.
6. Turn on the phone again and wait for the phone to completely boot. Once in standard mode, type in the unlock code that you have received from your purchase and wait until the unlock process finishes. Once unlocking is complete, your phone will reboot and your new SIM card should now be working with your phone.
