Make Ringtones With Dialing

Some cell phones still may not have the option of MP3 ringtones, and you can't assign a song as your phone's ringer alert. Instead, the phone uses a few default polyphonic tones. On most such phones, the ringtone customization option is given in the form of a default application called "MusicDJ" or "Melody Composer," which lets you make polyphonic melodies with a combination of preset sounds or notes. You can use this tool to make melodies of your choice.

Instructions

1. Find the Melody Composer application on your phone. On some phones, it is labeled as "MusicDJ," and you can find it by going to the main "Menu" and selecting from the "Entertainment" subcategory.

2. Enter the sounds of your choice. On some phones, you can listen to each sound from each category, such as "Drums" or "Guitar," and select the one you like. It will be then inserted into your custom ringtone. On some phones, pressing each key -- for instance "1" or "5" -- will play different music notes, which you can then insert into the tone the way you like. For instance, on Nokia phones, the Melody Composer lets you insert notes "c," "d," "e," "f," "g," "a" and "b" by pressing the keys "1," "2," "3," "4," "5," "6" and "7." After entering a note or a sound effect, you can select it, and press "Remove" if you don't like it.

3. Press "More" or "Options" when you are done, and select the option "Save Melody."

4. Go to the main menu, and select "Settings."

5. Choose "Sounds and Alerts" or "Ringtones" (depending on whichever option you see on your particular handset). Select the ringtone you just saved, and choose the option "Select." It will be saved as your phone's ringer alert.
