Free yourself by unlocking your Sony Ericsson T616.
Service providers program a SIM restriction into their cellphones to prevent use with other networks. This effectively locks your Sony Ericsson T616. The easiest way to regain control over your Sony Ericsson T616 is simply to unlock it with a code.
Instructions
1. Find the IMEI code. This is also known as the International Mobile Equipment Identifier. It is the serial number and how service providers identify a phone. Get the code by keying in "*#06#" with no quotes. You will get a 15-digit number. Write this down.
2. Find a site that has the unlock codes for a Sony Ericsson T616 (see Resources below). Although some sites offer codes for free, most charge a fee.
3. Enter "Sony Ericsson" for the make of the phone followed by "T616" for the model. Put the IMEI number in and select your service provider and the country that you reside in from the drop-down box.
4. Put in your email address and payment details if necessary.
5. Wait for a couple of days and check your email. You will get an unlock code. Write it down.
6. Turn your cell phone off and remove the subscriber identity module (SIM) card by sliding the back cover off and removing the battery. The SIM card is the small white card located underneath the battery.
7. Replace your SIM card with one from a different network. Replace the battery and turn your phone back on.
8. When your phone comes back on, it will say that you are on an incorrect network and it will ask you for a code. Key in the number that you received exactly as you see it. Wait for a few seconds and the phone will restart. Once it does, the logo of the new network will be on the screen. You have now unlocked your Sony Ericsson T616.
