Activate A Cricket Flashed Phone

Well known for its prepaid cell phone plans, Cricket Wireless is one of the U.S. carriers that uses Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) devices on its network. What this means is that unlike SIM card-based Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) phones, these phones require manual reprogramming -- "flashing" -- in order to be used on other networks. If you've recently flashed a CDMA phone to work on the Cricket network, this is but the first action you must take to use Cricket -- you must also activate your phone so that it can accept the network's signal.

Instructions

1. Ask the Cricket Wireless associate who flashes your phone to activate it for you while you wait. Cricket associates are trained in phone activation, so if you're already at the store, it makes sense to simply have your phone activated while you're there anyway.

2. Activate your phone online by visiting the link listed under "Resources." Click the "Activate Now" button, click the second "Activate Now" button and enter your phone's serial number. The serial number is located on the inside face of your phone's battery. Click "Next" and enter your personal information such as name and address. Click "Select Plan," choose the plan you'd like, then click "Activate."

3. Call Cricket's Customer Service hotline at 1-800-274-2538 from a phone other than your mobile to activate your phone with a customer service associate. Have your phone's serial number, which you can find underneath its battery, ready for the associate who answers.
