Put Maps On A Garmin Mobile Xt

You can install GPS software onto your cell phone rather than purchasing a GPS device.

Garmin Mobile XT is a global positioning system (GPS) application for your smartphone that provides you with directions, points of interest, weather data and traffic information. There are no monthly fees and it comes with maps and points of interest. Garmin uses the program MapSource to upload maps to your PC, which can then be transferred to your smartphone.

Instructions

1. Download Garmin Mobile XT or the updates if you have not done so yet. Go to Garmin.com and select "Support," "Downloads" and "Garmin Mobile XT Support Files Software Version."

2. Insert the storage disc (SD) card into the external card reader of your smartphone.

3. Connect the USB cable to your smartphone and select "Download" on the Garmin webpage.

4. Select "Run" to install the program.

5. Click on the "Garmin Mobile Mobile XT" and select "Activate" on your PC.

6. "Click Next" to install maps onto your PC. You can then select which maps you would like to install on your smartphone. The fewer you install, the faster the program will run on your mobile.

7. Check the "I Accept the Data Agreement" statement and click "Next."
