Format Numbers In Ms Word

You can change the appearance of numbers in Word.


Unlike spreadsheets, numbers in Word are often used for numbered lists (bullets and outlines), page numbers and footnotes. You can change the appearance of numbers in Word, modifying their font, color, and style or customizing the alignment. Formatting the numbers for a section of your page or your entire document can save time. If you're using Word's date and time feature, you change choose how the numbers are displayed before or after they are inserted.


Instructions


Numbered List


1. Select "Format" and "Bullets and Numbering" from the toolbar.


2. Select the "Numbered" or "Outline Numbered" tab in the "Bullets and Numbering" dialog box. Choose the number style you want to format and click the "Customize" button.


3. Click "Font" to change the font that's used for the number. Choose the font, style, color and effect you want to apply from the "Font" dialog box. Then click "OK."


4. Select a style from the "Number Style" to customize the number and specify the starting number.


5. Select an alignment from the "Number Position" drop-down list. Then choose its starting point under "Aligned At."


6. Select the text position and indentation and click "OK."


7. Click "OK" to return to your document.


Page Numbers


8. Select "Insert" and "Page Numbers" from the toolbar.


9. Select your page number's position and alignment from the "Page Numbers" dialog box.


10. Click the "Format" button.


11. Click the "Number Format" drop-down list in the "Page Number Format" dialog box. Then choose the format you want to apply.


12. Click "OK" to close the "Page Number Format" dialog box. Click "Close" to return to your document.


Endnotes and Footnotes


13. Select "Insert," "Reference" and "Footnote" from the toolbar.


14. Go to the "Format" section of the "Footnote" dialog box.


15. Select a format from the "Number Format" drop-down list and click "OK."


Date and Time


16. Select "Insert" and "Date and Time" from the toolbar.


17.Choose a format from the "Available Formats" section in the "Date and Time" dialog box.


18. Select the language from the "Language" section. Then click "OK."
