Unlock Your Motorola Nextel I560 For Free

Use the service provider of your choice by unlocking your Motorola i560.

The Motorola i560 is a clamshell-style flip phone known mostly for its tough outer appearance and its push-to-talk feature. Like with other cell phones, if you bought the i560 from Sprint/Nextel, it came locked to the network. You can only use it with the Sprint/Nextel service. But if you unlock it, you'll be able to use any network you want, without having to sign a new contract. This becomes helpful when traveling overseas because you can avoid long distance charges by using foreign SIM cards. Unlocking can also potentially increase the phone's resale value.

Instructions

1. Acquire your i560's unique IMEI number by typing "*#06#" into the keypad.

2. Contact your service provider's tech support department and request an unlock code. Be ready to give your IMEI number, mobile number and email address. If they need a reason, tell the representative that you're traveling overseas, or that you plan on selling your phone.

3. Turn off your phone and remove its back cover. Take out the battery and slide out the SIM card from beneath its latch. Insert your foreign or prepaid SIM card in its place.

4. Turn your phone back on. The screen will say "Enter Special Code." Enter the unlock code that you received in a previous step. Your phone is now unlocked.
