Connecting your Apple iPhone to T-Mobile's GPRS frequency is a straightforward procedure that will require a T-Mobile SIM card. It will also require you to "jailbreak" your iPhone. GPRS stands for General Packet Radio Service, and each cell provider has its own GPRS frequency. The iPhone is locked into AT&T as a carrier in the United States at the software level, so before it can be used on T-Mobile, ou need to unlock it using the software utility Blackra1n.
Instructions
1. Plug your iPhone into your computer and start Blackra1n. Make sure iTunes is closed if you have iTunes set to open automatically when you plug your iPhone in.
2. Click "Make it ra1n" to start the jailbreak process. When your phone is finished rebooting, the jailbreak and unlocking process will be complete.
3. Turn off your phone and close Blackra1n.
4. Disconnect your iPhone from your computer.
5. Insert the SIM card removal utility that's included with your iPhone or use a thin pin and insert it into the hole at the side of your iPhone's SIM card tray. If you have an older iPhone, the SIM card tray is at the top of the phone, but if you have an iPhone 4, it is on the right-hand side.
6. Remove the old SIM card and insert the T-Mobile SIM card into the tray.
7. Turn on your iPhone and tap the "Settings" application.
8. Tap "General Settings" and "Network."
9. Tap "Cellular Data Network" to enter the T-Mobile APN settings into the phone. In the "APN" field, enter "epc.tmobile.com." Leave the username and password fields open, as these will automatically be assigned to your phone when it connects to the T-Mobile GPRS frequency.
