Secure Your Android Phone

Setting up a screen pattern lock could protect you from identity theft.

Securing your Android phone could save you thousands of dollars if the device is ever stolen. With an unsecured device, thieves are able to rack up excessive charges by making calls to international numbers and purchasing applications and games using your account. While reporting your phone as stolen right away may excuse you from paying these charges, the process can involve headaches that are easily avoidable by simply securing your phone. Thankfully, the process of doing so is not complex.

Instructions

1. Access your Android device's security settings by tapping the "Menu" button from the home screen. Select "Settings," "Location and Security" and then "Set Up Screen Lock."

2. Tap "Pattern" from the list of security options that appears. Draw your desired security lock pattern on the screen with your finger; only patterns using four or more dots will be accepted.

3. Press "Continue" to save the pattern. Henceforth, entry of this pattern will be required to unlock your Android phone for use.
