Format An Mmc Memory Card

If your multimedia card (MMC) is not working properly or you simply want to delete all the information off your card, you can perform the format process directly from your computer's operating system using your built-in card reader or an attached MMC device of your choosing.

Instructions

1. Plug your MMC card into your computer. If you are using a card reader, plug that reader into your computer via the USB or Firewire cable provided, and then plug in your MMC card to the reader.

2. Navigate to the Windows "Start" button and then click on "My Computer." You may also find the "My Computer" tab on your desktop where you can double left-click on the icon to open the "My Computer" window.

3. Find your MMC Drive in the "My Computer" window. Typically it will be labeled as an external drive; however, if you have previously named the card it will display the card name.

4. Right-click on the MMC card and choose the "Format" option by left clicking on it. You will be asked if you are sure you want to format; click "Yes." You will also be asked to name the MMC card. Choose any name you would like and continue the process.

5. Wait for the card to complete the format process, and then you can remove the card. We suggest removing the MMC device and then reinserting it; if the new name for the card appears, the format was successful. Repeat the format process if the card has not formatted properly.
