Troubleshoot A Toshiba Gigabeat

The Gigabeat comes in either a 30 or 60 gigabyte capacity.

Take your music anywhere you go with Toshiba's Gigabeat MP3 player. At times, you may encounter technical glitches with your Gigabeat, which can be caused by any number of issues, including power outages, missing song files, battery charging problems and bad connections between a PC and the player. Try a few troubleshooting steps to get your player up and running again quickly.

Instructions

1. Charge the Gigabeat as a first step in correcting a power problem. Flip the battery switch to "On." Plug the AC adapter into the device, connect it to the power cord, and then plug the power cord into a wall outlet. A battery icon will appear on the screen. When the Gigabeat is fully charged, the battery icon will display a check mark. The Gigabeat can also be charged from a computer by plugging one end of the USB cord into the bottom of the device and the other end into the computer. However, the Gigabeat can not be used while charging from a PC. Check the "Lock" switch, as it may be activated, preventing response to commands. Turn the device on or off using the "Power" button located on the upper right side.

2. Install the included software on your PC, if you're unable to transfer music from your PC to the Gigabeat. Insert the CD into the PC disc drive and click "Install Windows Media Player 10" (even if you already have Media Player on your PC, as the new install includes files for the Gigabeat). Complete the install by following the onscreen instructions. Turn on the Gigabeat and connect it your computer. Install music from Windows Media Player by dragging and dropping files into the device window.

3. Properly play music back by selecting "Music" from the main menu using your "Plus Touch Pad" (the + shaped button at the bottom front of the device, which navigates right, left, up and down). Highlight "Music," and then touch right on the "Plus Touch Pad" to access your music library. Make sure headphones are inserted snugly into the headphone jack and volume is turned up.
