Bypass cell phone towers and save minutes by using SIP technology.
SIP, or Session Initiation Protocol, is a protocol that allows users to send and receive phone calls, text messages and other multimedia information through Wi-Fi or 3G network coverage. This means that you can circumvent your phone company's plan by using a different means of communicating. Instead of using up your minutes, you can now make and receive phone calls at very little cost, or for free. By configuring the settings in your Nokia N95 phone, you can activate your SIP functions, thereby allowing you to take full advantage of this new technology.
Instructions
1. Sign up with a company such as VoipVoip (voipvoip.com) or Vonage (Vonage.com) for an SIP plan. This will allow you to use 3G or Wi-Fi coverage to make and receive calls, texts and other multimedia.
2. Power on your phone and click "Menu," "Tools," "Settings," "Connection," "SIP Settings," "Options" and "Create a New SIP Profile."
3. Enter the appropriate information given to you by the company with which you've signed up (see links in the "References" section for examples).
4. Power your phone off, then turn it back on. Click "Menu," "Tools," "Settings," "Connection," "Internet Tel. Settings" and "Options." Choose the SIP profile you've created and select it as your preferred profile. Your SIP settings have now been configured.
