Reset Hp6500 Ink

The HP Officejet 6500 printer uses #920 cartridges available in black and colored inks.

You might want to reset an ink cartridge because either the cartridge has expired and is no longer recognized by the printer, or the ink was refilled and the new ink level isn't being detected or reported accurately. Every printer has its own reset method and the Hewlett Packard Officejet 6500 is no exception. However, one universal reset method works with all HP printers. You can reset your HP 6500 ink by using a cartridge cycling technique.

Instructions

1. Power on the Officejet 6500 printer and insert the first cartridge. This should be the cartridge you ultimately need to reset. Let the printer recognize the cartridge and then print an alignment page. When the alignment page is finished, remove the cartridge.

2. Install the second cartridge and repeat the same cycle. Wait for the printer to recognize the cartridge and then print an alignment page. When it's finished printing, remove the cartridge.

3. Install the third cartridge and repeat the cycle one more time. Wait for the printer to recognize the cartridge, print an alignment page, and then remove the cartridge.

4. Place the first cartridge back into the Officejet 6500. The cartridge will be reset and the the ink level in the cartridge now will be correctly reported.
