Delete Cell Phone Records

Deleting cell phone records is easy to accomplish.

If you want to sell, upgrade or clean up the memory on your cell phone, you will need to delete cell phone records from your device. Cell phones are designed to retain personal data, such as messages, contacts, and media on the device itself or the SIM card. If you want to restore your device to its factory settings, you will need to perform a hard reset. A hard reset will delete all of your cell phone records. Alternatively, if you only want to free up memory on your device, then you can individually select which cell phone records you want to delete.

Instructions

Hard Reset

1. Press the "Menu" key on your cell phone and navigate to the "Settings" option. Select "Phone Settings" or "General" followed by "Security."

2. Enter the pass-code for your cell phone, if prompted, and select the option "Reset" or "Wipe Hand-held."

3. Confirm your decision and select "OK." to start the process. Depending on the model of your phone, you may need to restore the factory settings. Complete the next two steps if data is still present on your phone.

4. Press the "Menu" key on your phone and navigate to the "Settings" option.

Select "Phone Settings" or "General" followed by "Security."

5. Enter your cell phone pass-code, if prompted, and select the option "Restore Phone." Press "OK" to confirm your decision. Enter the pass-code for your device again, if prompted, to start the restoration process.

Delete Individual Records

7. Select the messages, contacts or pictures that you want to delete from your phone.

8. Press the "Menu" or "Options" button and select the option "Delete." Confirm your decision and complete this task for any other records that you want to delete from your phone.
