Unlocking your Samsung Strive will let you use your phone and its GPS in foreign countries without having to pay roaming fees.
The Samsung Strive is a versatile and capable cell phone released in the spring of 2010. It's packed with features including Bluetooth connectivity, an MP3 player and a GPS device. The latter of these features can come in particularly handy when you're traveling in unfamiliar territory such as overseas. But when traveling abroad, your long-distance and roaming charges add up quickly. There is a way to avoid this, however, by unlocking your phone, allowing you to use foreign or pre-paid SIM cards from different carriers.
Instructions
1. Type "*#06#" into your phone's keypad to obtain its IMEI number.
2. Call your network provider's tech support and ask them for an unlock code. If they need a reason, tell them that you're traveling abroad or that you plan on selling your phone. Be prepared to give them your mobile number, email address and IMEI number.
3. Turn off your phone and remove its SIM card. Put your new foreign or pre-paid SIM card in its place and then turn the phone back on.
4. Type the unlock code (which you received in step 2) into your phone's keypad when the screen asks for a password. Your Samsung Strive with GPS is now ready to make and receive calls.
