Use A Computer As A Handsfree

Bluetooth and a computer can extend the features of your cell phone

A little-known feature of Bluetooth is that it can turn your computer into a hands-free answering system for your cell phone. If you need to use your phone while working at your computer, this method is safer and more efficient than tucking the phone under your chin. You can connect a microphone and headset to your computer to improve the sound quality. You can also record calls, although you should let the other party know if you do this.

Instructions

1. Activate Bluetooth on your cell phone. You can usually find this option under the "Applications" or "Settings" menu.

2. Pair your cell phone with your computer. Set up a new partnership on your phone, which will prompt it to scan for Bluetooth devices in the area. Select your computer name from the list and confirm.

3. Create a passkey. Use the phone keyboard to enter a four-digit passkey of your choice. Enter the same passkey into your computer when requested, and click "OK." Your computer will show "Bluetooth Connection Successful."

4. Select the hands-free option on your cell phone and confirm. Choose your computer name from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone and set it as your hands-free device. A headset icon will appear at the top of your phone screen.

5. Answer the phone when it rings by clicking the pop-up that appears on the bottom right of your computer screen. You will be able to see the caller's number and will have the option to "Accept" or "Reject" the call.
