Control your TV with a cell phone.
It's quite common to misplace a TV remote control, making it inconvenient for you to control your TV options. Luckily, there are some new and innovative ways of controlling the functions of your TV using a cell phone. Instead of the traditional remote control, now you just have to reach for your cell phone to change the channels on your TV.
Instructions
1. Connect your cell phone to your computer and enable ActiveSync, which is a Windows application used for syncing cell phones and computers.
2. Download Salling Clicker remote control software (a link is provided in Resources). Save the software application to your computer. Do not purchase the software; download the trial version first. You can buy it later after making sure it works well on your TV and phone.
3. Run the downloaded file "sallingclickersetup.exe." Follow the instructions of the installation wizard to finish the installation. Once the wizard is done, click "Finish."
4. Right-click on the icon of Salling Clicker in your computer's system tray. Select "Set up device." A window will pop open.
5. Select your handset from the drop-down menu. If your handset device is not in the list, click the "Update list" button and check again. Click "Copy to Desktop" and you will see another icon appear on your desktop.
6. Double-click the .exe file you just copied on the desktop. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard. This will install the application on your cell phone, which is connected to the computer.
7. Click "Install" on your cell phone when prompted. Make sure you install this file on the built-in memory of the phone and not on the memory card.
8. Disconnect your cell phone from your computer. Connect it again using Bluetooth. Now, click "Continue" on the "Device Setup Assistant Window."
9. Open Salling Clicker on your cell phone. Go to "Start" menu, navigate to "Program files" and select "Salling Clicker." Click the button "Menu" and select "Connect Bluetooth."
10. Select the name of your computer from the list and click "Connect." Close the window of Device Setup Assistance on your computer.
11. Open the installed application on your cell phone. You can then use this universal remote control application to control your TV.
