Unlock A Samsung R225

Break Your Phone's Network Ties.

When you buy a mobile phone, the network you bought it from set a "Network Block" on the handset. This prevents you from using your handset with a SIM card from any other network and this block needs to be removed for you to be able to do so. There are a large number of unreliable codes online but if you want to avoid the hassle of searching for codes which may not work, there are a couple of reliable methods of unlocking your Samsung "R225."

Instructions

Through Your Network

1. Get your phone's serial number (often called an IMEI number). This is printed on the label underneath your phone's battery. Alternatively, you can enter "*#06#" on your phone's keypad to bring up the IMEI.

2. Copy the number down onto some paper. This makes it easier to refer to it later. Changing your network is your right as a consumer, and because of that, networks are supposed to provide you with instructions as to unlock your phone, provided you quote them your IMEI number. This number is used to bring up your individual "Unlock Code."

3. Contact your network. Give it your IMEI number and it should give you your "Unlock Code." Unfortunately, not all U.S. networks will comply if you want to unlock your phone. T-Mobile and some other networks do, but many will charge a fee, and also specify that you can only do it after a certain length of time on your contract. This is to discourage people from taking out a contract for the favorable offer on the handset then switching to a better plan.

4. Type the "Unlock Code" into your "R225" and you will see a message confirming that you've disabled the network block.

Through Independent Companies

5. Obtain your IMEI number. This can be done in the same way as described above (type "*06#" into your phone).

6. Search online for "Samsung R225 Unlock" and choose an unlocking company that supports the "R225." Unfortunately, not many companies support the phone and some websites just lead you to your network or Samsung. There are some that do, however, and these are generally much cheaper than using more official channels.

7. Follow the website's instructions. These usually just require you to choose your make and model and enter your IMEI number. After processing your payment, the website will generate your "Unlock Code," usually within a day or two.

8. Type the code in to your "R225" and you'll be able to use any SIM card, enabling you to find a better deal or use a local network when abroad.
