Unlock Omnia

The Samsung Omnia i900 is a quad-band Global Systems for Mobile Communications (GSM) touch-screen smartphone that was originally released in June 2008. The phone features high-speed cellular data connectivity, a speakerphone, Bluetooth, a 5-megapixel digital camera and an FM radio tuner. The phone is normally sold with a carrier lock that prevents using the phone with another cellular service provider's Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card. You can, however, remove this carrier lock by unlocking the phone.

Instructions

1. Contact your current cellular service provider and request the unlock code for your Samsung i900 Omnia. In the United States, if you have an active account that is in good standing, your cellular service provider will normally give you the unlock code free of charge. It is also possible to purchase the unlock code from a company that specializes in unlocking cellular phones. Write down the unlock code.

2. Purchase a new SIM card from another GSM-based cellular service provider.

3. Remove the back cover and battery from your Samsung i900 Omnia. Under the battery, you will find the phone's existing SIM card. Remove the SIM card and insert the SIM card you purchased in Step 2. Replace the battery and back cover and power on the phone.

4. Press the "OK" option.

5. Enter the unlock code you wrote down in Step 1. Your phone is now unlocked and will work successfully with the new SIM card.
