Memory Card
A memory card is a removable storage device for digital media such as photographs; an MMC or multimedia card will also store videos and audio files. A memory card that is defected or damaged by a virus can be fixed through a system called reformatting, which removes data, fixes virus problems and restores all the drive's necessary components, thus making the memory card safe and usable again.
Instructions
1. Insert your memory card into your computer's memory card reader. If your computer does not have an internal slot, purchase a removable multi-format USB Memory Card reader.
2. Click on "Start" and then "My Computer." Look for "Computer" if you are using Windows Vista or 7.
3. Right-click on the memory card drive; this is normally labeled as "(F:)" on a Windows computer.
4. Click on the "Format" option in the menu.
5. Leave the default options as they are--do not remove any check marks.
6. Click on the "Start" button.
7. Watch the progress bar in the dialogue box move. It will show you when the process is almost complete. Leave the memory card in while this action is performing.
8. Press "OK" on the pop-up window alerting you that the memory card has been formatted.
9. Remove the memory card from the computer.
10. Insert your memory card into a digital camera or any other device it is used for. Verify that the information is changed and the card is now functioning properly.
11. Close out all windows on the computer.
