Unlock your Nokia 5300 for use on a different mobile network.
When you unlock your cell phone, such as the Nokia 5300, you are able to use the phone with a different network provider, such as T-Mobile, AT&T or Sprint. Unlocking provides you the freedom of using the same phone but taking advantages of the rates and features of one of these networks. You may wish to switch networks for lower monthly fees and better call reception, for example.
Instructions
1. Press *#06# to obtain your phone's unique identification ("IMEI") code. The code is between 15 and 17 digits.
2. Obtain your unlock code (see Resources). Be prepared to enter the phone model, your billing information, and your phone's IMEI.
3. Remove the SIM card from the phone by removing the battery compartment and battery. Slide out the SIM card from the slot.
4. Enter the following on the phone's keypad:
# P W + [UNLOCK CODE] + 1 #
5. Wait for the phone to read "SIM Restriction Off." The phone is unlocked after you see this message.
