Fix A Memory Card On The Nokia N72

The Nokia N72 is a GSM-based mobile phone that can be used on AT&T's network. The phone has an available microSD card slot on the side that allows you to increase the phone's memory and storage capabilities. With the additional storage, you can upload more music files, save more pictures or play more games. If, however, the microSD card does not function correctly in the Nokia N72, you need to troubleshoot the issue to determine what is causing the problem.

Instructions

1. Ensure the microSD card is not locked. Eject the microSD card from the Nokia N72, and check the small write-protection switch on the side of the card. If the switch is in the down position, it means the write protection is activated and you are not able to save additional files to the device. Push the switch to the up position to unlock it.

2. Check the metal connector pad on the bottom of the microSD card. Ensure that the connector pad does not have fingerprints or dirt. If there is dirt on the pad, the cell phone can't read information from the card. Clean the metal connector with a soft cloth until all of the dirt is gone.

3. Use compressed air. Spray a few shots of compressed air into the open microSD port on the Nokia N72. If the port is dusty or dirty, the phone is unable to read the card. The compressed air helps remove dirt that is stuck in the port.

4. Insert the microSD card into an SD card adapter. The adapter allows you to use the microSD card in standard SD card slots. Connect the SD card reader to a USB port on your computer (if the computer does not have an SD card slot). Insert the SD card adapter into the card slot, and momentarily the computer will state that it has detected a new, removable device. Click "Start," choose "Computer" and right-click the removable-device icon. If the card does not load at all, it means some data on the card is corrupt. To fix this, you must reformat the card. Select "Format" from the pull-down menu and click "OK" to reformat the microSD card back to its original factory state.
