Nokia, one of the better-known names in the mobile phone industry, has produced an extensive line of smartphones, including the N73, released in 2006, and the 5610 XpressMusic. While these phones are similar in appearance and functionality, there are a few differences you may want to consider before deciding which phone is right for you.
Physical Features
The Nokia N73 measures 1.9 inches wide, 4.3 inches long and 0.7 inches deep, while the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic measures the same width and depth as the N73, but is 3.9 inches long. At 4.1 oz., the N73 is heavier than the 5610 Xpress Music, which weighs 3.9 oz. Both phones feature a thin-film transistor screen that displays at 240 by 320 pixels of resolution, but on different sized screens and different color capacities. The N73's 2.4-inch screen displays 256,000 colors, while the 5610 XpressMusic's 2.2-inch screen displays more than 16 million colors.
Battery Life
Both the Nokia N73 and Nokia 5610 XpressMusic are powered by a standard lithium-ion battery. The N73, when fully charged, gets up to 3.8 hours of talk time and up to 348 hours, or 14.5 days, of standby time. The 5610 XpressMusic, on the other hand, gets up to six hours of talk time and up to 319 hours, or 13.3 days, of standby time. Compared to similar phones on the market at the time of publication, these times rank below the seven-hour average for talk time and the 448-hour average for standby time.
Memory
While the Nokia N73 comes with 42MB of data storage and 64MB of RAM, the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic features 20MB of onboard memory. Both phones are equipped with memory card slots for expanded memory. The N73, which supports up to 2GB of expanded memory, is compatible with miniSD cards, which offer up to the maximum amount of memory for this phone. The 5610 XpressMusic supports up to 8GB of expanded memory and is compatible with microSD cards and high-capacity microSD cards, which offer between 2GB and 32GB of memory, up to the phone's 16GB limit.
Miscellaneous
The Nokia N73 and Nokia 5610 XpressMusic feature a 3.2-megapixel camera, which captures still images at up to 2,048 by 1,536 pixels of resolution and is capable of recording video. A variety of camera features, such as digital zoom and auto focus, give both phones added photographic functionality. Each phone is also equipped with a secondary camera, which provides them with videoconferencing capability. Both phones support text, video, photo and voice messages and mobile email through a connection through to a Post Office Protocol or Internet Message Access Protocol server.
