Record Cell Phone Conversations To A Computer

Whether you need to protect yourself legally or you just need to ensure the accuracy of a phone interview, knowing capture and store cell conversations can be an invaluable tool. Use the steps listed here to learn record cell conversations directly to your computer.

Instructions

1. Download and install a copy of GoldWave from the official website - though a similar audio-recording utility will work just fine.

2. Plug the mini tele-recording device into the microphone port on the sound card of your computer - it will be labeled with a picture of a microphone. The sound card will likely be at the back of your computer, installed in one of the expansion bays.

3. Insert the rubber-tipped side of the pickup into your ear, and place your cell-phone speaker against the pickup. Both sides of the conversation will be recorded.

4. Open GoldWave. Click the icon located in the top-right corner of the program labeled "New." Set the quality and length of your recording, and then click "OK."

5. Check your recording and playback levels. Open GoldWave's "Control" menu, click the "Volume" tab and adjust the "Mic Volume." Exit the menu.

6. Click the "Record" button in GoldWave's floating right panel and initiate your phone call. After the call is complete, click the play button to review it.

7. Save your recording by clicking "File" in the upper right corner of GoldWave. Select "Save File as" from the drop-down menu, and then choose a name and location to save your recording.
