Disconnect A Linksys Vpn

You can remove VPN settings through the router's GUI.

If you no longer require the use of virtual private network (VPN) access or secure access over the Internet, you can remove the VPN settings from your Linksys router. To do so, you need to access the router's graphic user interface (GUI) and remove the VPN settings previously given to you by your Internet service provider. This allows you to use a dynamic Internet protocol address commonly used by ISPs, which cost less money then a dedicated static IP address.

Instructions

1. Connect the Linksys router to a computer so you can access the internal settings on the router. These settings are called the graphic user interface (GUI). To connect the router and computer, place an Ethernet cable into the LAN port located on the back of the router and then plug the other end of the cable into the Ethernet port located on the computer.

2. Input 192.168.0.1 into a web address field of a web browser. To access the GUI, enter the default log-in information. Use, "admin" for the user name and leave the password field blank.

3. Click on "Setup" and then on "Basic Setup" to locate the section of the GUI that has the settings for VPN.

4. Click on the radio button located to the left of the phrase, "Obtain an IP Address Automatically." Clicking on the radio button deletes the information loaded into the fields labeled, "IP address," "Subnet Address," "Default Gateway," "Primary DNS" and "Secondary DNS."

5. Click "Save Settings" to update the router information and to delete the VPN settings.
