Nero develops a variety of disc-burning, multimedia and backup programs. Nero programs are normally uninstalled using a standard uninstaller from the Control Panel. Occasionally, a Nero uninstall may fail to properly uninstall the program, leaving leftover files and registry entries on your system. Nero provides a free utility called the Nero General CleanTool, which cleans up the leftover Nero files on the system. As of March 2011, Nero General CleanTool supported Nero BackItUp 4 as well as Nero 7, Nero 8 and Nero 9.
Instructions
1. Open the Nero Tools & Utilities Web page in your Web browser.
2. Click the "Nero General CleanTool" tab on the Web page, click "Download" and save the file to your computer by clicking "Save" in your Web browser.
3. Double-click the downloaded "General-CleanTool.zip" file on your computer.
4. Run Nero CleanTool by double-clicking "NeroCleanTool.exe" in the .zip file.
5. Select the Nero programs you want to uninstall completely by clicking the checkboxes to the left of each.
6. Click "Clean."
7. Click "Exit" after CleanTool finishes cleaning up the files.
8. Restart your computer by clicking "Start," clicking the arrow to the right of "Shut Down" and clicking "Restart."
