An SIS file is a generic database file used on phones running the Symbian operating system. This includes some Nokia, Ericsson and Motorola phones. The SIS can hold a variety of objects, among them images. Computers cannot recognize SIS image files, but the SIS file is the phone's way of identifying a file your computer can recognize. If this is an image you want to turn into a thumbnail (THM), you can do so by changing the file type of the SIS so your computer recognizes it as an image.
Instructions
1. Click the SIS file on your computer once. The file name will highlight.
2. Change the ".sis" extension to ".jpeg." SIS image files are really just JPEGs in disguise. Though the phone's operating system cannot recognize JPEGs, your computer can.
3. Open the JPEG in Microsoft Paint (comes with Windows).
4. Select "Save As" from the "File" menu.
5. Select "Thumbnail File (*.thm)" from the format box and click "Save." You now have the original SIS as a THM thumbnail.
