N80 Tips

The Nokia N80 is a Symbian-powered smartphone with a slide-out keyboard and a 2.1-inch screen. While it doesn't feature a touchscreen, which is typically standard on a smartphone, it has many features that can help organize your life and use your time more efficiently. The following tips will guide you in personalizing your N80 and getting the most out of its battery life.

Personalization

To access the personalization options in your Nokia N80, press the "Menu" button, then select "Tools," "Profiles," "Options" and then "Personalize." From the "Personalize" menu, you can change your ringtones and notification tones and calling options. To change the look of the user interface on your N80, press the "Menu" button, select "Tools," then select "Themes." From here, you can change the color scheme of the menus on the N80, as well as your background image.

Enabling and Disabling Bluetooth

Bluetooth is a wonderful feature in a cell phone, allowing you to pair your phone with GPS devices, Bluetooth hands-free headsets and even some vehicles. If you do not have a Bluetooth device to connect to, or are not currently using it, turning your Nokia N80's Bluetooth capabilities off can reduce the strain on your battery, allowing longer-lasting charges. To turn off Bluetooth in your Nokia N80, click on the "Menu" button, select "Connect" and then "Bluetooth." Toggle the "Bluetooth" setting to "Off." Reverse the process to re-enable Bluetooth connectivity.

Enabling or Disabling Wi-Fi

Much like Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi connection can add great flexibility to your phone and can reduce data plan usage. However, when you are not utilizing Wi-Fi connectivity, having the Wi-Fi enabled contributes to draining your battery. To turn off your Wi-Fi connectivity, press the "Menu" button, select "Connect," Wireless LAN" and then set the "Wi-Fi" setting to "Off."

Software Updates

Checking that your Nokia N80 has the most up-to-date operating software installed ensures that you are getting the most features out of your phone. Software updates allow phone manufacturers to improve performance and add features to your phone. To check for and install any software updates, press the "Menu" button, select "Connect" "Device Manager," "Options" and then "Check for Updates." If updates are available, you will be given the option to "Accept" the software update download. Keep in mind that your device should be fully charged before attempting any updates.
