Remove The Flip On A P990i

The P990i is a smartphone released by Sony Ericsson in 2006. The phone features a 2-megapixel digital camera, a built-in media player, a 240-by-320 pixel LCD and a rotating flip cover that conceals the keypad. The flip also allows you to answer, and hang up phone calls as you open and close it. If the flip cover recently cracked, or stopped working, you may have considered replacing it yourself in lieu of buying a new phone. The good news is that there is very little disassembly involved removing the flip cover.

Instructions

1. Power down your phone, place the phone face down in your palm and remove the battery cover from the back of the phone. Remove the battery pack from its compartment inside the phone.

2. Place the phone face up, and open the flip cover until it is fully extended. Turn the phone over in your palm, so the battery compartment is facing upward.

3. Remove the six Phillips-head screws from the phone's back casing. Grasp the flip, and pull it straight away from the body of the phone until it disconnects from the data connector.
